Thaon de Revel

In the early 20th century the property was acquired by General Genova Thaon de Revel, a prominent figure in Italian history and protagonist of the Risorgimento, awarded by King Umberto I the Collar of the Order of the Most Holy Annunciation, one of Italy's highest royal honours. The General chose this residence on Lake Como as his home of choice, forever intertwining the villa's story with the great history of the nation.

1910

In 1910 the villa passed to his daughter Ottavia, who later entrusted it to the Parravicini Sossnovsky family. Today their descendants carefully preserve this extraordinary estate, carrying out considered restorations and maintaining the authentic family character that sets this villa apart.

Architecture

The villa's refined neoclassical architecture is defined by a composed façade with a columned portico and tall windows opening directly onto the Como lakefront. The four state rooms preserve original 19th-century tempera ceiling frescoes, fine mosaic floors and period furnishings. The Sala delle Colonne, the heart of the villa, with its tall columns and the raking light from the lakeside windows, has remained almost unchanged since its creation.

The Garden

The garden opens directly onto the shores of Lake Como, an absolute rarity in this part of the city, framed by centuries-old wisterias that cascade in waves of mauve and white across the façade each spring. In summer, white and pink hydrangeas line the paved walkways, while the lake view shifts with the changing light. A landscape of quiet beauty that has enchanted generations of guests.
